Who can drive rental cars?

Not sure if you can let someone else drive the rental car? Did you add the additional driver? It is important to know that.

Before signing a rental agreement, it is right to make sure that you are clear about the stipulated conditions that you are going to accept: the condition of the vehicle, return, theft and damage, fines and penalties, rates, liability, and–who can use the car and who cannot.

Since this is not a purchase, the primary driver will be responsible for anyone driving the car instead. So it is very important to make sure you read the rental agreement so you don’t get it wrong (read GoByron‘s contract ).

Who is authorized to use the rented vehicle?

1. The rented vehicle may be driven by the contract holder and possibly by the company director, partners or employees if it is a corporate rental (reported in advance);
2. Family members/cohabitants of the person who concluded the contract (reported in advance);
3. All persons who will be reported in advance.

Anyone driving the vehicle must have a valid driver’s license issued at least one year ago. In addition, the contract holder assumes for himself, and any additional drivers, the obligation to be on call 24 hours a day at the telephone numbers specified in the agreement.

In the absence of prior written authorization from the principal person in charge of the rented vehicle, the vehicle may not be granted for use or given in possession or custody to anyone in any capacity, nor may the contract be assigned to others.

New driver limits for rental cars

Newly licensed drivers can also drive the rental car, of course abiding by the current rules that the law requires. The limits are valid for 12 months after obtaining the license and cover the power, KW and horsepower of the chosen vehicle:

1. KW/ tare ratio less than or equal to 55 (figure shown on the registration certificate);
2. KW less than or equal to 70 KW (about 95 hp);
